It seems to have been a long time since our last game due to the onset of the Year 6 SATs. Prior to this game we were in fourth place and hot on the heels of Wembury United in third. The team knew about the task in hand and toiled hard to win 6-4 and as a consequence leapfrogged Wembury United into third place!
There is still a fair few games to go and the fixture list appears to be heavy after the half term break with a game each week until the end of the summer term.
Well done Stuart Roaders!
Next game is on Friday 8th June 2:15pm vs. St. Paul's on Pitch 1.
Quadkids 2018 (25-04-18)

We recently sent a team of 4 boys and 4 girls from Year 6 to an annual athletics meet otherwise known as Quadkids at Brickfields.

The children took part in a series of events which included two track events, the 400m and the 60m sprint. There were two field events the standing long jump and the vortex throw.

Each of the children participated in each of these events and scored points individually which combined together to form a team score. We were 11th out of sixteen teams in a highly competitive tournament. Each of our athletes were great ambassadors for our school and gave their best. Special mentions go to Florence Beavan, Charlotte Hawken, Rosie Prior, Mollie Ivey, Gene Price, William Ivey, Jakob Forster and Cole Page.

First game back after the Easter break and we celebrate with a closely fought contest against Shakespeare School who were tough competitors last time around.
We managed to win 9-7 and consolidate our 4th place in the League. Wembury United also managed to win this week, which means that there remains a 2 point gap.

Next match will be after Y6 SATs at 2:15pm on Friday 25th May on Pitch 3 against Wembury United, an opportunity to close the gap. Good luck Stuart Roaders... onwards and upwards!

Another win this week has cemented our league position in fourth place. A spirited game where we started badly trailing by 0-2, only to then spark into life for the remainder of the match. A solid team performance where even our goalkeeper (Nick Salop) got onto the score sheet! Well done Stuart Road, third place is within sight!
Next match is against Oreston United on March 9th on Pitch 2.
Y3/4 Indoor Athletics Tournament
Wednesday 7th February 2018

This was a well organised event run by the Plymouth Schools' Sports Partnership, held at the Plymouth Life Centre. It took place after school for children from Years 3 and 4. Nine primary school teams participated in a highly competitive event where our team came a noble sixth. Well done to all the children that took part who were good ambassadors for our school. Special mentions go to to Evelyn Chan, Edith Prior, Miley Price, Annie Duffeld, Charlie Edney,  Freddie Hannah, Sonny Cook-Dupree, Spencer Guest, Dylan Orchard,  Rio Bisgrove and Jack Searle.

Stuart Road Primary Academy vs. Oreston (11-2)

An impressive return to form ended with a victory over Oreston Primary. Before the game started we were level on points but placed in fifth, whilst Oreston were sixth. There was a change in the squad this week with Nikolas Salop debutting in goal, showing great organisational skills with his team mates in an impressive display. The rest of the team worked hard together to achieve a great score. Well done team... we are proud of you! Bring on the next team!

Stuart Road Primary Academy vs Compton Primary (3-7)

Our first defeat in open play for the season was a hard fought contest. The opposing school's teacher had called it their hardest game to date this season in this new league. Our team put up a valiant afternoon's work with a few changes. Lily Felgate deserves a mention as her first time in goal for our school and kept the scoreline close. Well done Stuart Roaders... better luck next time!

Stuart Road Primary Academy vs. St. Peter's (6-6)

We remain undefeated in a very closely fought contest. There were contrasting parts to the match where we were ahead 2-0 and then with the emergence of St. Peter's through the game we went behind 6-4. Stuart Road were rapidly running out of time to salvage something from this game which ended in a 6-6 draw. With another minute or two Stuart Road could well have won the game. Gene Price scored 4 goals whilst William Ivey scored one, with Lily scoring the equaliser. A thrilling encounter and a true test of resilience... Well done Stuart Road!

After winning the ESFA southwest regional District final back in October beating some very tough opposition Plymouth Schoolboys Football Club were in Liverpool for the national finals. It was an amazing experience for them all, especially Gene Price from Year 6 as a Liverpool fan! The finals were held at Liverpool FC Academy, a lovely facility and a fantastic experience for all of the boys involved.

Gene is with the Schoolboys representing Stuart Road and the team were there representing Plymouth in the premier league national final. 8 teams took part from all over the country, all winners of their region. The boys progressed to the semi final which they lost on penalties to the eventual winners Wokingham. The same team that beat us in our  ‘final’ on the Easter Tour in Jersey. Plymouth were then in the playoff beating Sheffield 2-1 finishing the day in 3rd spot. Gene delivered a fantastic corner placing it on the head of our left back Joel to score a header to put us 2 nil up. We are very proud that Gene has been part of such a special historic year with the school boys with their best ever set of results.

Finishing 3rd in the country was a brilliant end to their season where they also won the Cotswold League.

Well Done Annie!

Annie Duffield in Year 4 competed in the Devon Squad Gymnastics trials in Exeter on Sunday 7th January 2018. She successfully qualified, gaining a place into the 2018 Devon County Gymnastics Squad.

A massive achievement, obtained through Annie's hard work and determination. Well done and congratulations Annie!

Stuart Road Primary Academy vs. Montepelier (1-6)

A daunting task ahead as we faced the league leaders, who incidentally have won every one of their games. However, our team took it in their stride and was actually 1-0 up, thanks to a Lily Felgate goal. In the end, we were overwhelmed 1-6, which on reflection was a very respectable scoreline considering the team that we faced. This loss still leaves us in forth place and we face Wembury next Friday with a 1:30pm kick off on Pitch 3 against the team in third place... see you there and good luck Stuart Road!

Plymouth Primary Schools' Football League (PPSFL)

Friday 3rd November 2017 (at Goals)
Stuart Road Primary Academy V Wembury United (6-2)

Weather conditions were ideal for this fixture and the game started off well with some patient passing of the ball and good use of space. We were unfortunate to concede the first goal which is a first this season and the team's response after this disappointment was excellent. Our patience was rewarded with an equaliser and we eventually overcame Wembury United in what turned out to be an absorbing encounter. Gene Price scored a hat-trick whilst Lily Felgate scored a goal and George Swabey scored two. The team's overall performance was excellent as well as their attitude.
Well done Stuart Road... we are proud of you.

Friday 17th November 2017 at Goals.
Stuart Road Primary Academy vs St.Paul's Primary (7-6)

We are on a winning streak in a very hard fought contest. We conceded two early goals but fought back to become eventual winners at 7-6. Yet another notable performance and another hat-trick to his bow for Gene Price. Again the team fought hard for each other for a deserved win.
Congratulations team Stuart Road!
Plymouth Schools' Football Association Under 11s

Stuart Road Primary is represented in the Plymouth Schools'Football Association U11 Squad by Gene Price in Year 6. Gene has been selected in a squad of 14 players from the original 100+ who were nominated. We look forward to hearing his reports on any future matches. It's a honour for Gene to be representing the City of Plymouth and wish him well!
